Black and white and striped all over...

Given the opportunity to help a local up-and-coming fashion designer (Beth) with a short notice studio photoshoot to provide her with a couple of great images to show off one of her clothing project designs, it was a no-brainer. The shoot was quickly organised. After a 1 hour shoot, the four best shots were picked.

Quick, simple but effective.

If Simon Perkin Photography can help you with your key business and project based activities, just get in touch and see if I can help you!

The other photos from the shoot can be seen here...

Selling houses...

It is truly Spring with some fabulous weather (at least today!) and this is a popular time of year to be selling houses. Unless you are incredibly lucky, your house is your most valuable asset so it is essential that the first impression your potential buyers get of your property is positive.

The first chance you get to make an impression nowadays is via online photos, so make sure your photos are professional and show off your house to its best. Don't tolerate poor photographs taken by the agent as they race around your house with a point and shoot camera with the flash on full power - they are hardly going to entice buyers to your door!

For professional, high resolution, sharp and well lit house photography, just get in contact with Simon Perkin Photography and let me help you sell your house!

Prices are tiered based on the number of bedrooms as follows:
  • One or Two bedrooms = £125.00
  • Three bedrooms = £175.00
  • Four bedrooms = £225.00
  • Five or more bedrooms = Price on Request
For this price, I will take at least one photo of each room in the house, including front and back gardens (if present) and provide you with a CD containing the photos at both full (high) resolution and web (low) resolution. This price is assuming that your house is no more than 10 miles away from me.

If you have any queries about this service, or any other I offer please just get in touch.

Model: Distorted Orchid

On Good Friday, I had an afternoon shoot with Birmingham-based model, Distorted Orchid, at my studio in Derby for some mutual portfolio development.

After few outfit changes, subtle makeup, a couple of different lighting setups and some fun banter we were done. All that was left was to do was my usual subtle level of re-touching and we end up with a couple of photos that we are both pleased with. Great model, easy to get on with and good fun with it!

Oh yes, all of the photos can be seen here!

The last 12 months...

The new tax year is here, and looking back at the last 12 months it is clear that it was very successful for Simon Perkin Photography. Some of the highlights have included (in no particular order):
  • working with a locally based (but international) pharmaceutical product distributor to catalogue their entire product range comprising over 1000 products. More on this work in a later blog entry no doubt!
  • helping people who are selling their houses privately to promote their property with professional interior and exterior photographs.
  • working with B+B as well as larger hotel businesses, both locally and nationally.
  • providing graduation photos for a group of recent graduates in Derby.
  • increasing success with stock images library Alamy, with new photo licenses secured.
  • helping a local web developer update their own website with photos of themself.
  • collaborating with a range of great local models, which is always fun!
The new year is looking equally exciting both with new opportunities and by continuing to support existing clients!

Catching up with models...

In the last 12 months or so I have worked with a number of local models to help develop their (and my) portfolios shooting mostly at my studio, experimenting with lighting and post-production.

Without exception it was great to work with them and I remain in contact. I find these sort of collaborative shoots and excellent way to network and work with a model informally and to build a base of local models who can be relied on when it comes to working with them in the future on client projects. Better to work with someone you know to be reliable and suitable wherever possible!

In no particular order:

Shigure X Core - Click here for the photos!

Bea Sinful - Click here for the photos!
Heather Pandora - Click here for the photos!
Laura - Click here for the photos!

As you can see I source the majority of local models from Model Mayhem.

I am always interested to hear from local models, so if you are based in and around Derby, Nottingham, Leicester get in touch and perhaps we can organise a shoot

Where to start...

The first few words are no doubt the hardest, so I will make them boring so this blog can improve with time and become more interesting (I hope).

This is a new blog for Simon Perkin Photography, which will be used to keep people informed of what I have been doing, what I hope to do and hopefully, why you should choose me for your photography work :)

Simple aspirations!
